Probation / Introductory Period

All employees are hired on a ninety (90) day probationary period. Employees may be evaluated at or around sixty (60) days. If there is a need to improve in any area, the employee may be given a written warning and a plan for improvement. If improvement is not made, the employee may be released from employment.

Completion of the probationary period does not change the at-will nature of employment.

Sick Leave for Full-Time Employees

New Employees

For a new employee's first year of employment, the employee accrues four (4) hours per month of sick leave until reaching a cap of forty-eight (48) hours. On January 1 following the employee's first anniversary, available hours will be reset to forty-eight (48) for that calendar year.

Regular Employees

Each January 1, all regular full-time employees will start with forty-eight (48) hours of sick leave. If an employee uses no sick leave by December 31 of the year, Advanced Heating and Air will purchase sixteen (16) hours of the 48 hours at the employee's current rate of pay (based on an 8-hour day). The remaining thirty-two (32) hours are not usable and do not carry forward. On January 1, available hours will be reset to forty-eight (48) for the new calendar year.

Sick leave is not intended for personal days, funerals, weddings, birthdays, or similar events. It applies only to the employee and/or to care for a parent, child(ren), or spouse.

A doctor's statement/release may be required before returning to work if an employee is under the care of a doctor, or if misuse/abuse of sick leave is suspected.

All employees must notify management if they are sick and/or will miss a workday.

06

Short-Term Disability

After five (5) years of employment, an employee may be allowed, at the owner's discretion, to take short-term disability leave for the equivalent time worked in an ordinary two-week period (80 hours for full-time employees) at sixty percent (60%) pay.

Sick leave, vacation, and comp time must be used in full prior to short-term disability allowance. Details and/or arrangements must be discussed with the manager and owner in advance.

07

On-the-Job Injuries

If an employee is injured on the job, the employee must immediately notify the person in charge at the job site and contact their manager. An accident report must be completed so the Office Manager can file with the insurance company.

Do not go to the emergency room unless the injury is life-threatening. Advanced Heating and Air works with a designated doctor who handles job injury incidents — the company will refer the employee to the appropriate provider.
08

Personal Days Without Pay

Personal days without pay may be granted at the employer's discretion and must be approved in advance by management.

09

Vacation

After one (1) year of employment, an employee has the equivalent vacation time of the time they work in an ordinary week — 40 hours for full-time employees and 30 hours for part-time employees. After five (5) years of employment, an employee will have sixteen (16) hours of vacation time added to their original annual hours per year.

Vacation time must be used at a minimum of four (4) hours per day. An employee may carry over sixteen (16) hours of unused vacation to the next year. Anything over that will be lost. All employees must have vacation approval by management.
